In brief
FindNumberLocation reads phone numbers in your browser. The full number stays on your device until you press Continue. Continue opens our web app and passes the number to it.
The site sets no cookies and runs no analytics. Its fonts are served from this domain.
Some requests do leave your browser. This page lists each one.
A number you type
Checking a number and working out its line type and formats happens in code running on your device.
To show a region, an original network, a time zone or a map position, your browser downloads small data files. Each file is named after the country code. For some countries, such as the US, Canada, Germany, Brazil, India and China, a second file is named after the first one to three digits that follow the country code. These file names can appear in our hosting logs. The rest of the number does not.
When you press Continue
The Continue button opens our web app at app.findnumberlocation.com. It passes details to the app in the web address, so they also appear in your browser history.
Those details are the number in international format, its country and country name, and the reading from this site: city or region, original network and line type, where known. The app also receives your device's time zone offset (such as UTC+02:00), the page language, the kind of page you started from and the time you pressed Continue. If you arrived through an ad or campaign link, its tags are passed on too, such as utm parameters and the click IDs gclid, fbclid and msclkid.
Nothing goes to the web app before you press Continue. From then on, the web app's own terms and privacy policy apply.
This site never receives the location of any phone. A location is shared only inside the web app, and only when the phone's owner agrees.
Maps
The locating screen on the home page shows a street map from OpenFreeMap. When that screen opens, your browser loads map tiles from tiles.openfreemap.org. The map shows the country of the number you checked, and its city or region when the data has one. OpenFreeMap receives your IP address and the map area being shown. Its own privacy policy covers those requests.
The dot maps elsewhere on the site are served from this domain.
Hosting
Cloudflare hosts the site. Its servers keep standard access logs, which include your IP address, your browser's user agent and the files requested.
To preselect a country in the number box, a page may request /cdn-cgi/trace on this domain. Cloudflare answers with details of your connection, including the country it links to your IP address. The page uses that country as the default. It does this only while the box is empty and you have not picked a country yourself.
Cloudflare's own privacy policy covers its processing.
Cookies and analytics
The site uses no cookies and no analytics at present. If that changes, this page will say so.
Changes to this policy
When the site changes how it handles data, this page changes too. The date on this page shows when it was last updated.
